| Malawi Diplomatic Missions Abroad Achievements Malawi has fourteen (14) diplomatic missions abroad and one (1) Consulate General. The primary objective of the Malawi diplomatic missions abroad is to facilitate the promotion of sustainable development, economic growth, tourism and trade competitiveness, cultivate, harness and strengthen areas of economic and political cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, and maximize the effectiveness of their representation in promoting and attracting foreign investment and aid. |

| Political Affairs Department
In order to achieve some of the objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there is the Department of Political Affairs, which promotes and maintains sound and effective socio-political relations between Malawi and the rest of the World. It also promotes peace and international security by attending and contributing to various international fora. |

Departmental Structure The Department is headed by the Director of Political Affairs. The Department is structured into two Divisions, namely The Africa and Middle East Division and the Division of Europe and Commonwealth, Americas, Australasian, United Nations and Other International Organisation. These divisions are managed by Deputy Directors. |
| Protocol Department
The Protocol Department, which is headed by the Chief of Protocol, deals and coordinates all matters related to general administrative requirements of foreign diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to Malawi and State/Government ceremonial functions.. |
