WELCOME TO THE MALAWI HEALTH INFORMATION WEBSITE
This page provides brief introduction of the content of this site and linkages to different documents and databases. Information is available in two forms: Raw data excel pivot table and Arc Explorer; and ready to use files in word, or acrobat or excel. National health policies, plans and other important documents are available at this site and can be freely downloaded. However, the figures appearing in quarterly feedback reports and raw data are not necessarily the true picture of the country and therefore totally restricted from quoting in any formal report.
Raw Data
Raw data appears at website as it is received at HMIS central database. Such data are not validated for quoting. The main purpose of providing such data is to provide quick access to programme managers, development partners and other interested researchers to draw preliminary idea about recent performance. A user must know about pivot table and Arc Explorer to benefit from this facility. There are two pivot tables linked to this site. Malawi Hosp contains tertiary care data obtained from 4 tertiary care hospitals. Malawi PHC contains primary and secondary health care data obtained from health centres and district hospitals. Each pivot table contains data on more than 200 data elements for each month for each facility in the country. data is available starting from January 2002.

The figures generated in quarterly reports are not authentic and restricted from quoting in any formal reports.
Annual Reports
A formal report for each calendar and fiscal year is produced compiling data from all sources. All the figures appearing in this report are authentic, unless otherwise stated in the report itself, and therefore can be referenced without permission. Click here for available reports.
