The Ministry of Information comprises the following departments which have specific mandates:

Department of Information

The Department of Information and Civic Education is mandated to collect, analyse, compile and disseminate public information to stimulate interest for popular participation in the country's social and economic growth and development. The Department comprises the Press and News Section also known as the Malawi News Agency, the Civic Education Section, the Publications Section, the Research and Planning Section, Audio Visual Section and Technical Services Section.
