Hon Henry Chimunthu Banda was born on December 30, 1962 and comes from Chipembere village in Nhotakota District, Central Malawi. He has been Member of Parliament for Nkhotakota North Constituency since1999.
Hon. Chimunthu Banda has a Diploma in Education obtained from the University of Malawi. He also possesses a Diploma in Education Management acquired from Brandon University.
He was a teacher at Nkhotakota Secondary School from 1985-1999 and rose to the position of the Headmaster of the school. Hon. Chimunthu Banda was also a Regional Publications Officer for the Teachers Union of Malawi from 1993-1994.
As a Legislature, he was once Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment, from August 1999-September 2001. From January 2000-September 2001, he was Commissioner in the Parliamentary Service Commission.
A CCAP Christian, Hon. Chimunthu Banda is married and has three children.
