MALAWI NEWS AGENCY

1.  Relocate headquarters to Lilongwe.

2.  Improve news gathering and dissemination processes through computerization of the system.

3.  Develop editorial policy and news style guide book for MANA based on Reuters.

4.  Decenralisation of MANA operations and strategise on the intergration of district Information offices into the district assembly structure.

 

 

A Regional office has been established for the south to replace MANA

 

 

MANA is one of the oldest News Agencies but operates without any editorial policy

Publications

1.       Mobilise resources to computerise design and editorial units

2.       Review relevance of current publications through research:  This is Malawi, Boma Lathu, facts Book, Desk calendars

3.       Production, speeches, biography brochures.

4.       Produce Boma Lathu, This is Malawi Facts Book, Desk calendars

5.       Relocate library to Lilongwe

6.       Develop viable marketing and distribution plans for publications

7.       Develop sustainable mechanisms to coordinate COI and manage government website

 

 

 

FILM UNIT

1.  Record all VVIP functions for posterity

2.  Produce video documentaries on topical issues affecting the citizenry.

3.  Production of special documentary on development vision

4.  Provide public access to recorded public functions

TECHNICAL

1.  Screen development, HIV/AIDS video documentaries to rural audiences across the country

2.   Provide sound amplification and audio visual projection services for VVIP functions and to the  the public on hire.

Film screening is one of the best methods for communicating as it does not depend on audience or viewership literacy

RESEARCH AND PLANNING UNIT

1.   Conduct mass awareness campaigns on HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health issues

2.  Design rural Communication for Development strategies.

3.  Conduct research on access to information and media related legislation or policies.

 

 

 

WEEKLY NEWS

1.  Reposition the Weekly News on the market by improving content and appearance

2.  Relocate the production unit of the Weekly News to Lilongwe.

3.         Produce the Weekly News

4.         Strategise on changing the frequency of production of the Weekly News.

5.         Recruit qualified staff to fill vacant positions on the paper’s establishment.

 

 

Weekly News as of now depends on non permanent staff
