Chikwawa, March 2, Mana: The Ministry of Education has disclosed that 23 out of 34 educational districts in the country were severely hit by Tropical Storm Ana, which has exposed the areas to severe hunger. Minister in the portfolio, Agnes NyaLonje, said this after recently touring three schools of Gonda Junior Primary School, Nchalo Community Day Secondary School and Bereu Primary School in Chikwawa District that were affected by the storm.
 
Government deploys 50 primary school teachers to Likoma District
Likoma, February 17, Mana:  Residents of Likoma District expect improved education standards in the island district’s primary schools following the Ministry of Education’s deployment of 50 primary school teachers to the district.
Acting District Education Manager (DEM) for Likoma, Margaret Chinthiti said this is the first time for Chizumulu and Likoma islands to be allocated such a huge number of primary school teachers.

IRI program promotes quality of learning

Blantyre, July 26, Mana: Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has reaffirmed its commitment in speeding the formulation of Open Distance Policy which would allow the Malawi College of Distance Education (MCDE) to be independent in its operation.
Minister responsible, Agnes Nyalonje disclosed this Friday during a familiarization tour at Malawi College of Distance Education (MCDE) in Blantyre.

Mzuzu, February 10, Mana: Malawi Prison Service (MPS) has said 2021 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) results in prisons have shown that the institutions provide quality education as the pass rate has increased from 50 per cent in 2020 to 55.6 per cent in 2021.
In an interview on Thursday with Malawi News Agency, MPS Spokesperson, Chimwemwe Shawa said 44 out of 79 inmates who sat for MSCE passed the examinations.

Chikwawa, September 27, Mana: Director in the Public Health Institute of Malawi, Benson Chilima, has reiterated the need for research on some diseases the country deals with if proper measures are to be taken to control them.
Chilima made the remarks last weekend when he presided over the graduation of 15 trainees in Field Epidemiology Programs in Chikwawa.Out of the 15, 12 trainees came from Chikwawa District Health Office (DHO)..

Rumphi, February 8, Mana: About eight staff houses and part of an administration block at Rumphi District Hospital were Monday damaged by angry people after a patient identified as Maliko Nyirenda, 24 died at the hospital while waiting to receive treatment.
