CHAKWERA SATISFIED WITH PROJECTS IN BLANTYRE AND CHIKWAWA

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera today inspected government development projects in Chikwawa and Blantyre districts. 

Speaking at Mitole and Bangwe, Chakwera expressed satisfaction with the progress and  standards of the projects. He said that it is his government's priority to undertake development projects of high quality and modern standards. 

Chakwera urged contractors to ensure that they follow these standards throughout the projects. 

He said it is paramount that security officers,  who ensure that communities are safe, be taken care of and their needs addressed through such projects. 

Chakwera also assured Malawians that the police houses as well as all other government development projects and initiatives demonstrate government's commitment to developing Malawi into a self-reliant nation despite the challenges that the nation is facing. 

He also made a whistle-stop at Limbe market where he assured business people at the market that his doors are open and will hold meetings with different groupings, including business people in the southern region to discuss various issues they are facing. 

Chakwera also said with the support that the development partners have resumed, his administration is working swiftly to address challenges the country is facing, including food insecurity. 

He disclosed that maize will continue arriving in all Admarc depots and that government will continue to timely implement projects and initiatives such as Mega farms, promotion of small businesses and construction of critical infrastructure aimed at addressing development challenges in the country. 

Speaking at Bangwe Police, Senior Chief Kapeni, who was speaking on behalf of T/A Machinjiri, commended government for the construction of the houses which he said will elleviate the challenges security staff face in the country. 

In his remarks, Secretary General of Malawi Congress Party, Eisenhower Mkaka commended government for implementing development projects in all the regions of the country to make sure that every Malawian benefits. 

He said that the new security staff houses will motivate security staff in the country to execute their duties diligently. 

Chakwera inspected construction works of officers' houses at Mitole Police camp, and later on inspected police staff houses at Blantyre Police lines, the new Blantyre Police offices, Malawi Prison Service staff houses at Chichiri Prison and handed over police staff houses at Bangwe. 

The Malawi leader also made a surprise visit at Zingwagwa Admarc.
